Honor X7: Frameless Smartphone in a Reasonable Price

Beautiful and practical smartphone

The design of honor x7 phone is amazing: The device is thin (only 7.6 mm), with neatly rounded corners and good ergonomics. By the standards of phones with a display diagonal of more than 5.5 inches, of course. If you like big screens, then you will almost certainly like it.

The case is almost monolithic – made of a single bar of aluminum. Unlike glass, falls for metal are fraught with much less negative consequences. There are no frightening plastic inserts on top and bottom, as is the case on some budget smartphones: only thin “veins” of antennas. But without them, nowhere – they are even on the iPhone. After all, otherwise the internal wireless modules would be completely isolated from the world.

The surface of the metal is matte and pleasant to the touch, but on the black version of the Honor 7X, fingerprints are quite clearly visible.

Large screen with almost no bezels

Cool and unusual screen is the main pride of Honor 7X. Its diagonal is 5.93 inches, the aspect ratio is 18 to 9, and the resolution is Full HD “with a tail”: 2160 x 1080 pixels. In practice, the user gets solid advantages from all this. The large wide screen allows you to comfortably watch movies and play games. By the way, additional 240 points of height also fall: they are the on-screen buttons of the system interface. Well, the minimum thickness of the frames on the sides, of course, guarantees a distinct wow effect. Of course, in the event that you didn’t have “frameless” smartphones before.

As for the picture quality, there are no problems. The IPS-matrix gives out enough brightness so that you can easily work with the phone on the street on a bright summer day. The display does not suffer from oversaturation of shades or a clear bias towards warm or cold colors. In general, this is such a good level of “above average”.

Cheerful filling for all basic tasks

Honor 7X is not a gaming smartphone, but it will by no means leave you without mobile entertainment. Simple puzzles and arcades will start without the slightest problem, but if we talk about top games like “tanks” or something like that, then it is more appropriate to rely on medium graphics settings. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the device scores a confident 62-63 thousand points.

If you do not play games, then there is no reason for concern at all. The performance of the eight-core Kirin 959 chipset and 4 GB of RAM is definitely enough for any standard tasks. Video in Full HD to watch? Easy! Open Telegram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp at the same time and chat frantically in all of them at once? Easily! A dozen tabs in the browser is also not a problem.

And all this against the background of quite a smooth and comfortable operation of the Huawei EMUI proprietary shell, which is installed here on top of Android 7.1. Firstly, this is normal for this price category. Secondly, if you have your own interface from the smartphone manufacturer, the difference between 7.1 and 8.0 is still almost impossible to notice.

Honor 7X has a balanced hardware with good performance. Particularly pleased with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory – this amount is enough for everything.

The amount of internal memory pleases: it is here as much as 64 GB. Enough for photos, and for videos, and for music, and for a large number of programs. At the same time, there is also a hybrid SIM slot – instead of one of them, you can use a 256 GB microSD card.

Camera:

Takes good pictures, but at night it is better to turn on the flash

The main camera of the Honor 7X is dual: under one lens there is a 16-megapixel sensor, and under the second – a two-megapixel one. This division of labor is necessary in order to shoot portraits with the now fashionable bokeh effect. This is when the background is slightly blurred using software algorithms. And the second lens is needed just for their correct operation. By the way, blurring the background looks good not only in portraits, but also in macro photography.

The front 8-megapixel camera is notable for the fact that even in far from ideal conditions it is able to provide decent sharpness and detail in self-portraits. Club of fans of “selfies” approves!

A full charge is enough for a day

In terms of battery life, Honor 7X demonstrate quite decent performance. Unless, of course, you play some zombie shooters all day long. Non-stop mobile games will drain the battery in about three hours, but you can squeeze out more if you lower the screen brightness. Actually, it is here that he is the main consumer of energy, and the processor is very economical.

The battery life of the Honor 7X is standard: a full charge is enough for a day of work in mixed mode for all everyday tasks and entertainment.

Summary

Honor 7X came at the right time – it is one of the first “frameless” smartphones at a truly affordable price. Competitors with large screens in the category “up to 20,000 rubles” can be counted on the fingers. And just one hand will be enough. But the most important thing is not this, but the fact that the developers of Honor, as always, managed to find that very golden mean, when in general the gadget is doing well and there is nothing to complain about globally.
